About the Alternative School

 We believe that a safe, nurturing and inviting environment is conducive to learning.  With high expectations, quality services and support, ALL students will have the opportunity to achieve.  Twenty-first century technology integration is essential to teaching and learning.  Students share responsibility for their learning.  Learning is enhanced when school, family and community establish relationships, share resources and support mutual goals.  Open and honest communication builds supportive relationships that strengthen our school system.  To be effective in a global society, everyone must understand and respect individuals and cultures.
Mission Statement

The mission of the Cabell County Alternative Learning Center is to provide a safe, structured environment where students strive to improve academically, socially and behaviorally through a focus on respect for self, peers, school and community.

Graduation Certificate#1  All students who attend the Alternative School 45 days will be engaged in a rigorous and relevant curriculum which will lead to an increase in their Lexile level at least 1/2 grade equivalent.
#2  Promote a positive school climate which will lead to student engagement in relevant curriculum, instruction and assessment to ensure graduation with their cohorts each year.
#3  All students will have the necessary supportive relationships needed to maximize school success in order to reduce the dropout rate.

#4  Strengthen partnerships with parents, district staff, community members, businesses, government agencies and post-secondary schools to aid in the goal of one hundred percent of students being college or career ready.
