The Rising Phoenix Meets Again
4H SymbolThe Rising Phoenix 4H Club had its first meeting of the 2018-2019 school year on August 28th.  Students reviewed what it meant to be a member of 4H.  They were taught about some of the advantages of being an active part of the club.

The students were introduced to the project for the fall semester - raising fruits and vegetables in the Cabell County Board Office greenhouse.  The students toured the greenhouse and began making plans involving what produce they want to grow from seeds.  This semester-long activity will help students take more ownership over what they eat and appreciate fresh fruits and vegetables.

The Rising Phoenix will also be landscaping the grounds around the Alternative School entrance on 28th Street.  Plans for that project are developing and very soon the students will be not only learning about landscaping but also actually getting their hands dirty while beautifying the grounds of the Alternative School.
