Black History PostersMs. Kelly Broce's middle school English classes spent the month of February researching and creating presentations of famous black inventors for Black History Month.  On Friday, February 24th, the staff and students of the Alternative School were able to enjoy learning about some of these famous inventors including:

Phillip Downing, inventor of the mailbox
Benjamin Banneker, inventor of the wall clock
Dr. Shirley Jackson, inventor of touch-tone phones and fiber-optic cables
James Edward West, inventor of the microphone
Dr. Charles Drew, inventor of blood banks
Kenneth Dunkley, inventor of 3-D glasses
and
George Crumb, inventor of potato chips

The afternoon concluded by celebrating chips and watching a movie about Rosa Parks, an inspirational leader of African American rights.
