Celebrating Freedom Week

Understanding and Appreciating Freedom

During the week of September 10th through September 14th, students of the Cabell County Alternative School will be immersed in history. 

Social Studies teacher Herbert Redman organized a full week of activities.



Monday:
Students complete a Question/Answer activity focused on the Mayflower Compact - the first government document in the New World.

Tuesday:
Students discuss any of six documentaries which feature 9/11 themes.

Wednesday:
Students play a game called "Don't Know Beans about the United States Constitution."  This will be a fun way for students to increase their knowledge of the United States Constitution.

Thursday:
Students will complete word searches featuring The Founding Fathers, The Bill of Rights, The Declaration of Independence, the U.S. Constitution and the Mayflower Compact.

Friday:
Students will take the Constitution Test from The Center for Teaching the Constitution to measure their knowledge.

This is an exciting, history-filled week at the Cabell County Alternative School!
